Send RDS to Rocketbroadcaster
« on: March 14, 2022, 09:24:31 pm »
HIm I am running v4.0.36 and I am trying to send the RDS to our steaming software RocketBroadcast, I have read the bridges and VP pdf and looked at the external text option, but just can not figure out the correct way to send the RDS data to Rocket Broadcast.

I have these options in RB

What would be the correct way to pass the RDS from MagicRDS to RocketBroadcaster

Thanks
Gordon

For this purpose, add new connection - Bridge - TCP server.

In the External text tool, configure the Dynamic PS output and set the text format as RB expects.

In the Destinations - SendTo, there's a need to explicitly specify the Bridge name, for example sendto "Connection 1", because the * wildcard applies for RDS encoder only.

Alternative way is to add the RDS Encoder - User Defined 1.

OK, I have this sort of working.

However, It seems to be dropping the 1st character or sending it over 2 lines

This is from Rocket Broadcast log

The text should be : Hot Sweet and Jazzy

2022-03-15T21:34:58 TCP metadata client connecting to 192.168.1.107:10001
2022-03-15T21:35:19 TCP metadata client connected!
2022-03-15T21:35:19 Metadata TCP client received: H
2022-03-15T21:35:20 Metadata TCP client received: ot Sweet and Jazzy

and from Magic RDS

22-03-15 21:35:15; P132: TCP Connecting
22-03-15 21:35:15; Loading Connection 2.conx
22-03-15 21:35:15; Connection 2: TCP Listenning
22-03-15 21:35:16; P132: TCP Connected
22-03-15 21:35:16; External Dynamic PS text: Hot Sweet and Jazzy
2022-03-15T21:35:20 Metadata TCP client received: ot Sweet and Jazzy

Thanks

Gordon

You may turn on the Communication Monitor in Overview to see that the Magic RDS 4 works correctly in this regard, so this is a bug in the RB. If possible, try another format (with explicit delimiter between the messages). Or as an ugly workaround, put single character prefix to the text.
