Maybe im missing something - New Install
« on: October 06, 2016, 05:53:13 am »
So, i'm planning on monitoring a streamer using a client PC as the PC to do silence detection from.

I am using VLC Player to play the stream from, and just the standard speakers as a playback device. its just a 3.5mm jack on the back of the PC.

When i choose to monitor "speakers" playback device, no audio appears in the Silence Detector.

Maybe i'm missing something obvious , but I just can't get it to work.

Windows 7 machine, standard Microsoft High Definition Audio Device Driver.
no stereo mix option available.

This software can monitor recording input, but not playback output. The 'stereo mix' recording input is however available on most sound cards. Check the sound card settings. Sometimes this option is hidden.

Although there are API functions in current Windows for monitoring playback output, I've never had a time to implement this option to the SD  :(

There are virtual loop drivers you can get that will do this. I'm sure its not supported by Pira directly but short of that, a short jumper out of the speaker port in to the mic or linein port would fix this.
