There are several things to consider when using Band I:  The second harmonic of anything below 54MHz is in Band II, anything higher and the second harmonic is in the air band!  Band I is easy to track - just as easy (if not easier because there's so few transmitters down there) than Band II.  It is NOT SECURE!  Do Not use it at the studio end!

I use a combination of microwave, UHF and Band I, with a minimum of two midpoints to prevent easy location of the studio.  My links are always carefully bandwidth controlled, clean, and use the minimum power that will reliably "make the trip",

You know the old cliche the DTi/OfCom use about 'interfering with other services'... well it's this kind of biscuit tin transmitters that add fuel to that fire.

ANYTHING ON AIR SHOULD AT LEAST BE PLL, AND HAVE GOOD FILTERING, especially for a remote STL. This is just oscillator, buffer and gain!!

Just to clarify, that's just MY OPINION... No offence meant.


This unit is sold to a very well know UK pirate station. to to clarify this unit has a LPF connected to to the final stage. All Uk pirates use either Free Running or Phase Lock Loop Band 1 Units..

Nothing analogue on those frequencies in the heart of the UK these days my friend....
