TEF6686 Connection via COM-Port

(1/1)

Andreas Mikula:
Dear Jan,

since a couple of months, lots of DX friends all over the world have bought TEF6686 radios (either from China or the Netherlands). Currently, the connection is done either via Wi-Fi or USB cable to XDR-gtk (see https://fmdx.pl/xdr-gtk/ ) which then forwards it to port 7376 to RDSSpy.

In https://github.com/kkonradpl/xdr-gtk/issues/6 I have reported massive errors in RDSSpy, but I cannot identify the root cause (is it the firmware, the XDR-gtk or RDSSpy?)

Do you see any chance for direct support (via COM-port) in RDSSpy in future versions?

Jan:
Thank you for that question. I register such request. To be honest, it is not likely that the RDS Spy project will be reopened in the near future.

Andreas Mikula:
In the meanwhile, the firmware has been fixed and RDS is working well now.

Also, redsea (open source project from Finland) can read from the TEF's serial output. And redsea allows sending hex RDS blocks to RDSSpy as well.

Therefore, this issue is now fulfilled.

Jan:
Happy to hear this, really, because nowadays I have a lot of work on other projects  :)
