P132 and P332 RDS Encoder and RDS 2.0

(1/2) > >>

Hi Jan,

Does the P132 and P332 RDS Encoder support the new RDS 2.0 functions?
I am verry interested in >> Broadcaster's graphical logo – a maximum 4 kilobyte picture (JPEG, PNG, or GIF)

Jan:
No, it doesn't.

Implementation is possible in future firmware versions, however this is premature as there are currently no receivers on the market with such support and the RDS 2.0 is still only a proposal, not a standard.

Pira.cz expects general acceptance of the RDS 2.0 only in the case that the DAB project will fail. Based on poor expansion of the DAB during 20 (!) years of existence, the issue is still open.  ;)

tech:
Here in The Netherlands several radio stations send the RDS 2.X  Logo's

I have a car radio that supports it (and no it is not a DAB radio)

So most likely aL new embedded car radio's will support the latest RDS2 in the coming year.

Jan:
Once it happens, we'll add the support. By the end of 2015, the features haven't been standardized yet so a long way remains.
The graphical logo showed by your car radio does not come via RDS channel.

tech:
Hi Jan, correct

you can create a logo and store it into the radio
The graphical logo is a   118 x 124 .png file formats 24bits, 32bit or 48 bits are working.

The logo will be loaded when here is a match with the PI code and the .png file name
