Title: Dummy Loads
Post by: Will on April 16, 2012, 11:54:27 am
Hello, I've got a question on Dummy loads, I know that a 0.1a 6volt bulb will work upto about 1.5 watts and that you can use 3x 24v bulbs for upto 5 watts, with a better SWR than my Zetagi Dummy load,

What I'm interested to know is what bulb(s) is ok to use for upto 200Watts

Regards

Yes you can use bulbs, against a simple power resistor it has a big advantage - you will see if it lights .
This http://www.gme.cz/dratove-rezistory-do-20w/rr-w20-47r-p114-210/ (http://www.gme.cz/dratove-rezistory-do-20w/rr-w20-47r-p114-210/) should work too, I am gonna use it with the 25W AM Transmitter posted on Pira.cz . btw As soon as I finish I will post here something about it

Don't be silly, if you are running 200w use a PROPER RF DUMMY LOAD!
DO NOT FUCK ABOUT WITH THAT MUCH POWER WITHOUT THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT!!! If you haven't got a dummy load i doubt you have an oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, watt meter????
200w will FUCK YOU UP if you get it wrong, hundreds of RF volts BURNS!!
If you put 200w on air and it's not right you will bring it on top for EVERYONE around you who may have worked hard at keeping their rigs in order.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
