Version 4.0.0

All versions 4.0.x are only for evaluation and test purposes! This is not a stable release.

Known limitations:

Web interface not available yet
Some functions are not implemented in full range
Any configuration data saved to hard disk may be partially or fully unusable in next version

Update from version 3:

Direct update is not possible due to completely different structure
Please install the version 4 to a new folder
Some settings may be imported to version 4: File - Restore - Magic RDS 3 - ...

Tips for beginners:

Run the app
Click on Add new connection
Select the Demo encoder
Click on Add
Click on Run demo encoder
Click on RDS Spy icon

To activate the application and get access to some features, perform a (bidirectional) communication with the original RDS encoder.

We accept bug reports and feature requests. For any support, please use only this forum.

Web-server has been implemented (at this time a simple status page only). Enable in Preferences.
In the Terminal, there's a new button which allow to send a file to the encoder which contains ASCII commands (each command on separate line). Useful for example for quick pre-configuration of many encoders.
Recent events show also current date
RDS Spy is no longer launched if cannot operate (on uni-directional connections or on connections below 19200 bps)
Bug fixes: 'Trying speed 1200' on closed serial connection, some buttons were sometimes mixed, Bridges no longer show options valid only for encoders

The External text sources are finally completely redesigned. Further text outputs are now allowed, each with selectable format and destinations. Single instance of the application can now serve several radio stations

Bug fixes: PIRA32 RTP if final Radiotext doesn't match any RT+ template, JSON parser access violation error, JS infinite loop protection and much more

The version 4.1.0 brings the biggest update from the date of origination. Although we spent a lot of time on testing, we strongly recommend to check the External text sources configuration after updating from older versions, to verify that all settings were converted successfully to the new environment. Please report any bugs.

Known issues:
The Text Replacing now applies to Text conditions as well. As the result, the Text conditions may work different way after the update. Please wait for the fix.

Existing logo files should be uploaded again to the encoders to fully comply with the latest IEC 62106 standard release.

Known issues:
This version cannot be used for loading LAN settings to the encoder. The configuration sent to the encoder is corrupted.
If you use this version, please update as soon as possible.

New Text Campaign add-on allows simple scheduling of text messages and management of paid text ads
RDS Spy via serial port/USB: if the serial speed is less than 19200, it is automatically increased, based on single click confirmation
Generic UECP: group 1A added to default group sequence to allow instant ECC
Generic UECP: group variant sequence added
The application creates .bak file when saving app settings
Extensions: Software RT+ encoder updated
RT+ item now toggles also if the text expires and next source in the sequence is set as 'no toggle'
Bug fix: serial/USB speed indication
Scripts: new commands added: events, save
New menu item added: View - Spreadsheets, showing various internal parameters, incl. IP addresses of remote devices etc.

Known issues: Audio recorder causes the application crash (Stack overflow) if all these conditions are true:
- executing command recorder.run name:"..." file:"..."
- the recorder name already exists
- the recorder was still recording
- the file name is now different
- fadeout was previously enabled

UECP device model now supports MEC 48: DAB+ Dynamic Label Plus (not sure why so many pluses but that's what they officialy call it)
Communication decoder now shows DAB+ DL/DLP in full length of 128 bytes
Due to increasing number of supported device models and purposes of use, the Connection Kind now contains several categories instead of the 'RDS Encoder' only
External text sources: The source sequencer has been completely rewritten, solving some limitations and bugs
External text sources: Transition Optimizer function added to Output. User can specify minimum display duration for all texts.
External text sources: If reading a web file and no explicit coding is specified, the UTF-8 coding is expected instead of ANSI
Device model 'User Defined 1': prefix and suffix now supports Dynamic Elements (see extsrc.pdf for details)

DAB DL+ model supports up to 4 tags
If DAB DL+ UECP MEC 48 is enabled, it works also when software RT+ encoder is active. Single UECP connection can feed a network of RDS and DAB+ encoders.
Demo encoder: Extensions/RT+ is automatically enabled upon start-up
P164 RDS Encoder: remote management device website made available via the Magic RDS 4 webserver. All RDS encoders are accessible via one login and one IP address.
Bug fixes: terminal lock-up, external text sources unwanted prefix/suffix in XML/JSON sources, virtual port 'Show buffer' button for line separator entered in milliseconds, remote bridge failure, external text minimum display time failure when more sources are in the sequence

Known issues:
P132 and P332: UDP mode of communication may not work correctly due to data length limit of 90 bytes per received UDP packet
TA timeout is sometimes not set correctly (use the Terminal instead)
