Old "analogue" chips for RDS demodulation were very resistant to incorrect modulation levels and other influences. Today, the receivers demodulate RDS using proprietary software routine and DSP. Quality of implementation varies significantly across different brands.

Bingo ! All good. I changed the configuration of the Stereo Encoder/P164/Tx and it's working perfectly now. Strange how it worked ok with the old configuration on all the other units but not the Toyota radio ! I'm hoping to buy one of the RDS Analyzers when there back in stock from Pira so I can find out exactly what I'm feeding into the TX. Thanks again

I reduced the sensitivity of the Tx to very low. I still have my stereo light on, along with the RDS info streaming to my house receiver so all good there, but still no joy with the Toyota radio. I have limited options with my stereo encoder/P164 configuration as I only have a single I/P to my TX, but my stereo encoder has ins and outs so will swap things around and see if that works instead. Stay tuned ....

Thanks for helping out. I have a stereo encoder also in the chain but I will reduce the sensitivity of the transmitter input while still ensuring both pilot tone and RDS stream is being picked up by the other receivers. Stay tuned ....

The modulation level is probably too high. Some receivers also require 19 kHz pilot tone, otherwise they do not decode RDS.

I'm just preparing my P164 into a small TX and dummy load. All the information is being sent inc PS and RT. I have testing the info on a good quality Sony receiver, my Samsung phone, my Roberts radio and to my VW Passat in the driveway, all perfect. However our other car, a Toyota crv and the neighbour's car, a Toyota Yaris does not display any information. There is plenty of RF going to both. Any ideas ?
