Download correct control software from the MicroRDS site here http://pira.cz/rds/show.asp?art=micrords_encoder

Hi -

I'm struggling to get my MicroRDS to talk to my PC, and I'm wondering if it's just dead?

I've wired the MicroRDS to a USB-to-Serial board which uses a PL2303 as follows:
PL2303 Pin 5 <- Pin 6 MicroRDS
PL2303 Pin 1 -> Pin 7 MicroRDS

I have JP1 open and JP2 open.

The PL2303 appears as COM37 on my Windows XP machine. I configure this in MagicRDS, and get the 'Port Opened' message.
However, I cannot read anything from the MicroRDS, I get a 'Communication Error' message.
(I've verified that the PL2303 works correctly by shorting pins 1 and 5. I can see characters echoed when I open HyperTerminal).

I'm powering the MicroRDS from the USB port, but other than connecting it to a TX, how can I verify its 'alive'?
I unfortunately don't have a scope, but my multimeter has a frequency function, this reads ~56Khz when I connect it to the RDS out pin 2.

Any suggestions are very welcome!

Thanks -

Leo
