There's no feedback from the VLC to the piraside indicating an end of the track. For mp3 software which supports playlists, the playlist file name can be used instead of mp3 file, resulting in single instance.

I now see my issue using an external player.
I had 3 lines of MP3 files. All of these kick in at the same time it seems.  Hence I get 3 copies of VLC running and we can only close 1 instance of VLC ( I guess 2 as there are 2 close options).

This was not an issue when using the internal player so Ill have to stick with 1 larger compiled file for now.

Thanks - my misunderstanding in its use. on 1.3 when I was using internal player I had the mp3 in the 'file' section. I repeated this using the default player so I was not aware that 'file' was the filname of the application.

The Open/Play feature has not changed since version 1.3. It uses single ShellExecute Windows API function so it launches no more than one instance. Any exception is a feature of the target application.

I tried the same as you and it works perfectly:

(It's just a quick test on the first attempt, didn't have a time to try other methods or options which probably exist. Anyway there's plenty of mp3 playing software, with various command line options, so I'm sure that appropriate solution can be found for any situation.)

I am now testing using VLC and just a single alarm task of Open/Play1. When it starts playing there are 3 instances iof VLC that get opened and I have only 1 line for a single file to play.  All 3 instances are playing the same file. I note that if I fill in the 3 files to play rather than play sequential it opens the 3 VLC instances and plays all 3 seperate files at the same time.

In the past and I have been using this tool for a few years with 1.3 I had no problem of this sort so im fairly sure its not me doing something odd.
Of course because it launches 3 instances of VLC I then cant kill 3 instances in the return section.

Hoping you can advise further

Im afraid with 1.4e insatlled im still getting a crash when it tries to play using internal mp3. I have pasted the crash data here..  For now Ill have a go with the kill on external player.

If you proceed the installation using the link above, the internal player should work.

You can use any external solution of course. For closing the external player, use the Kill application feature in the Return task list.

Thanks, the problem i had with 1.4 was 2 fold.
I was unable to use the internal mp3 play option as it was greyed out.
If i use an external player, say vlc, what is the process to stop the player once normal audio is resumed?

I have been using this great tool for some time. However after a server rebuild 2012r2 I have 2 issues.
With 1.4 I can’t work out what’s missing to allow internal mp3 play to work as the tick box is created out.
So I uninstalled and went back to 1.3.
Unfortunately when it’s triggered and tries to play audio the application crashes.
I have tested this now on win10 and a total of 3 computers with the same issue.
V1.4 will play using an external player but of course one audio is resumed I would need to stop play somehow.

So I guess my main question is how can I use internal MP3 player on v-.4 and then I can test if that release crashes.
