EDIT: Ok... in classic tech-support fashion. Typing a long question about my problem (and undoing and redoing the access for less secure apps setting) has allowed the test e-mail to come through.
Will update if there are further problems.

Hi all, thanks in advance for any help.
I've had trouble for a while now getting the test e-mail to send (via smtp.google.com) under the alarm tasks tab no matter what settings I use.
I've tried not specifying a port (results in ERROR: connect timed out), and also specifying ports 25 (results in ERROR: connect timed out) and 465 (results in ERROR: Connection Closed Gracefully).
Not getting anywhere under any combination of settings, I then specified port 587. This results in Error 5.7.14, a lot of random characters, and a Please log in via your web brower and then try again. Learn more at
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754 yp9sm400255561pab.42 - gsmtp.
Following those instructions, I see that gmail has blocked the app for security reasons. I went ahead to allow gmail to allow access for less secure apps (
https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps) and received a confirmation e-mail that this setting had been changed. Despite this, trying to send the test e-mail via Pira CZ just results in the same message about logging in with a browser and with the same support.google URL.
Again, currently I have both from/to set to my personal gmail account.
SMTP server is set to smtp.gmail.com:587
Authentication and SSL are both checked.
Username and password are both correct.
Can anyone suggest how to get this to work?
Thank you.
