RESET from Hardware
I obtained a Pira32 from an engineering friend who had been playing with it. I made a serial cable using the 3 wires noted in your manual. When I connect the device, I cannot connect to it on the COM ports. Hyperterminal and your Magic Tool fail to connect. I am guessing that the previous owner used some form of flow control settings on the Pira. Is there a way to reset the unit to default setting WITHOUT using the COM port to send it a command (e.g. unplug and short JMP-X)?

In fact, there is nothing to reset. If you use the MagicRDS application set to bidirectional mode (the default), it will automatically recognize the baud rate and you may start to play with the unit at once. So you should check the cable you made... Also don't use Hyperterminal and MagicRDS at the same time since only one application may access the COM port in Windows OS.
