Ill settle for just getting it to work.....
I've tried to understand RDS for many hours, but I've given up. I am ready for someone to tell me what to do. Just having it working is enough, I cannot spend the rest of my life trying to figure out how this thing works or what the parameters do. I spent months asking friends if it was working correctly, and it never did, so I finally got an RDS radio.
I am simply trying to get some text displayed in the order I want it displayed, but it seems impossible. Even out of order is impossible. the items I want displayed are:
1: song title
4: station name (Default PS)
1,2 and 3 are succefully generated as text sources. I would rather not have Program type listed, because none of them match.
I have no idea what the top and bottom displays on the Magic RDS software are (I assume top is DPS1 and bottom is RT) Nowhere in the manual does it say. Is this what's supposed to be displayed ona radio? If so, which one? I've tried various combinations of DPS1 and RT, with different timings (but the timings are not explained either i.e. "dynamic PS label peroid" what does it mean? who knows? what does it control? the manual doesn't say. How does anyone get this to work??????
What I am getting now is:
5 seconds of frequency info (probably generated by the radio)
5 seconds of one word of the DPS1. (Could be first, middle or last word)
5 seconds of Program Type
A full scroll of the RT (sometime with the end cut off ~40 characters)
3 seconds of blank screen
I have no idea how to set the following settings:
number of transmissions (shouldn't matter without DPS2)
delay between text loops
dynamic ps label peroid
The only thing that seems to work correctly is the test sources - a nice feature and easy to understand (has documentation). Now if I could just get it to display.

Dear Sir, this is a little misunderstanding. There is no way at all how to affect your receiver display mode on the RDS encoder side. This means that if your recever shows a loop like Frequency -> PS -> PTY -> RT -> blank screen, it is fully "wired" inside the receiver. Of course, you can never show dynamic PS correctly in this case as the dynamic PS is nothing else than a series of different PS. Dynamic PS does not work on all receivers, there is no solution for this situation other than to use Radiotext only.
However if you want to provide the Dynamic PS for other listeners you can get its live preview in main menu: Read - Online PS Window. Basic Dynamic PS parameters are described in the manual on page 13.
