MicroRDS Commands
« on: November 09, 2017, 02:00:00 am »
Trying to send data out to my Radio Transmitter site using an Ethernet to Serial Converter connected
to A MicroRDS board. Should I be using the TEXT= or the RT1= command for the Radiotext on the MicroRDS?

Has anyone else had any success using the Converter boxes. I am using NexGen automation , exporting out port 3500.
I'm able to IP scan and show port 3500 is open on the Converter Box.

Thanks

Mark

The MicroRDS does not support this set of commands. It has been designed for communication with on-board mcu. See the http://pira.cz/rds/mrds1322.pdf for serial data format.

For direct connection to the NexGen, you need a RDS encoder which supports ASCII communication protocol. See the comparison table here:
http://pira.cz/rds/show.asp?art=rds_encoder_support#diff

The most accessible replacement is the P232 RDS Encoder Module which among others supports also X-Command extension to the ASCII protocol. RDS encoders with Ethernet interface are available as well.
