Baud Rate question
« on: September 05, 2014, 08:21:02 pm »
I am trying to setup the PIRA32 encoder at my transmitter site.  I have a Harris Intraplex T1 unit that I intend to pass uni-directional data on, via the PT-353 audio card data port.  In the Harris documentation, it states the default communications protocol is 9600, 7, Odd, 1.  You have mentioned being able to change the baud speed of the PIRA32 to 9600, but I see no where a reference to changing the data bit or parity (7, Odd).  How can I match the Harris gear so my data gets through and is interpreted properly?
Thanks
Mav

You cannot change data bits or parity on the RDS encoder, they are fixed at 8 bits, no parity.
Since RDS encoders may be loaded by binary data as well as extended ASCII characters, 7-bit communication is not acceptable. The communication protocol uses all 8 bits.
